These selected paintings explore perceptual shifts between physical and metaphysical form -  one entity changing into another, a tree dissolves into light, a bird pixilates, a vessel echoes into surrounding space. Some of these paintings are part the Alchemical Transformations series referring to the phases of the psyche's development as described by Carl Jung. Using alchemy as a metaphor, birds are depicted as symbolic narrative stand-ins for these stages. In the language of alchemy, images are utriusque capax (Latin: capable of both) light and darkness, conscious and unconscious experience, material and spirit, a continuous theme in my artwork.
